10th Note-Mental Health

Source: Anxiety & I
Whether you like it or not, let's talk about mental health issue. This is funny because mental health problems are issues everyone happened to experience on daily basis but become a 'forbidden' subject to talk, especially where I'm from. It's like whenever someone's brought this issue everyone just went silent and they briskly change the topic. I don't know why this kind of talk became such a taboo or why people just avoid it all together. May be it's like: 'All living creatures have problems, you have yours, I have mine, so let's just not share them and keep them to ourselves'. Or may be like: 'Everyone have faced the things you have faced, and they walk through it. So chin up, don't whine, pull yourself together, and deal with it'. And when somebody committed suicide they bash him/her to no end.

Because they have no idea what kind of hell those people who'd committed suicide had to face on. They don't know yet they act as if they knew it all. They didn't even want to listen to someone else's problem, and when somebody finally lost it and did it, they averted their eyes and said the most hurtful things.

"A lot of people have their heart broken, it was stupid to commit suicide"

"Only idiot will commit suicide for something like that"

"That's because she has a little faith, she is a sinner"

"Those who committed suicide deserved to die"

Do these people even have a freaking damn heart? It's funny how these people just assumed someone would be able to commit suicide just because of a single event. Because suicide is the final form of the accumulation of all the negative feelings someone have to endure during their life. There's no way because of a rejection someone would commit suicide. No, the rejection was not the reason but the trigger. Those who had committed suicide had been sad for ages. Their sadness was too overwhelming, that once one disastrous event happened, they lost all their reasons and ended their life. They didn't deserve to be shunned. They should be pitied instead.

It's just ironic how people who had endured their hardships and walked through their own hell were unable to empathize with others who faced the same things. Because in the end we have different mental state builds. A trivial problem for you could be a huge problem for someone else, and please don't compare your hardships to someone else's. Don't judge. You don't even have the answers for their troubles.

I do not support the act of suicide, let alone promote it. I also don't want people to romanticize it and make it as something common. Because suicide is no way in hell the way out of everything. It has never been the answer for your trouble no matter how hard it is. You might stop your nightmare, but you'll become the worst nightmare ever for those you've left behind for the rest of their life. No matter how low you think of yourself, your existence whether you realize it or not, had effected your surroundings. Whether you want it or not, your presence meant something to someone. And believe me, there's always an answer in the end, it may be coming a bit late, but it's always been there, so please hang on.

Now I just want to share a test for mental health assessment presented by Psychology Today. It will help you to identify your mental health disorders by clicking the screening tools surveying your symptoms and show you how to deal with them. But please remember, this test is only the first stage to identify your mental health problems and it doesn't cover all of mental health problems. For further examination, especially when it's too hard for you to function daily, you might as well contact a specialist. If you're afraid to talk to a specialist, I'll share you some group online support which could help you to assist your issues.

Here's the link for Mental Health Assessment

There were 5 totals of mental health disorders in this test; Substance Used Disorder (where your disorder caused by the use of substance), Bipolar Disorder (involved a series of manic episodes and depressions), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (caused by traumatic events), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (constantly feeling anxious), and Panic Disorder (panic attack).

If you want to find out more about mental health disorder, you might visit: Internet Mental Health. There, you'll find out a lot of types of mental health disorder, their symptoms, free diagnosis, descriptions, treatment info, and self-help.

Forgot one more thing, some of you might dislike what I'm about to say, but praying does help me coping with my mental health issues. It sounds cliche. But when I surrendered all my troubles and myself to God, I found peace. I know that my mental health disorders are still there (there's no way they would just disappear, right?) and they might drag me down again. I might feel depressed again, might feel lose control, cold, numb, empty, panic, and feel all the negativity in this world, but I know that God will help me to walk through it. I know that there are people who genuinely care for me. I know that I am still blessed to be able to live though sometimes I do wish to die. I know that. That's why I hope you, no matter how hard your life is, you'll keep holding on, have faith in yourself, your family, your friends, and your God. Please live on till the end.
