Song Writing Project |
I think it was around the time I had to wait for the result of my national final examination and preparation for college that I started to pick guitar again. There was a Japanese singers which I admired so much (and I still do), who wrote her own songs, sang them, and played guitar by herself. I'll tell you how I encounter her in another post. She is a great inspirator for me so I need to at least write a special post about her. So in other words she was one of the reason I started to play guitar seriously. And also the one who inspired me to start writing my own song.
When I was in Senior High School, I wrote a lot of poems, everywhere (on my text books, note books, sticky notes, paper test, walls, tables, and so on) and any time (between lessons, during tests, lunch break, on my spare time). I don't think they were any good or anything, but I was kind of fond of them. I just loved to create something (the reason why I love crafts). And I go out of topic again, lol. God, writing is hard. Let's just say that I kinda combined my hobby of writing poems and playing guitar to make a song.
Though I said so, my first song was something I created a long time ago in Bahasa Indonesia, when I was a kid. It was a simple melody I played on our old piano, with no tittle, missing lyrics here and there, and quite a mellow one. Now I'm starting to miss that song, lol. I've forgotten the lyrics but not the melodies. I think it had something to do with flower, a rose I think.
There was also some songs I'd written in English during my first year of Senior High School. But the lyrics were messy and the grammars were dead. And I wrote them without guitar so I guess they were forever incomplete. I don't have any plan to revise them. Just let them be.
I think I've missed the point again.
This 'One Hundred Songs' is a song writing project I've made for my self. I've started doing this after I got to buy my own guitar by using my first job salary combined with scholarship (I guess it was too personal, but yeah, it was). I was getting pumped up watching my friends in a band contest held by my college and decided to participate in the acoustic contest the following year, which I messed it up. I felt (and still feel) bad for my partner, because I was too nervous on the stage so I forgot the chords and ruined everything. I hated my self so much at that time. I joined another contest the next year, and the same thing happened again. Since then, stage has been impossible for me.
I believe it was after all those commotions that I continued writing songs. And I've come up with 41 songs so far and I plan to post it here when I figure out how to do recording properly (kindly remind you, my voice was boring, my singing techniques were awful, my ukulele skill is just so so, and the songs, they were mostly pretty short). I don't keep track of when I actually finish a song, so the list will be arranged according to the one on my song book which I wrote randomly. They have number on them since some of them have no tittle. The number doesn't show the earlier or the later song created, they were just something I wrote randomly anyway. lol.
If you have any interest on this 'One Hundred Song' project, please just go to My Projects, 100 songs. I'd be glad if you check the songs and leaves your comment there. And thank you for reading my absurd writing.
